Cultivating in each moment opens the way to the Tao.  If you can see through the world and gently let it go, no trouble will linger in your heart.  If you see the world as beautiful, it reveals its beauty.  If you see it as filled with worry and pain, that too becomes real.
Why is that? Because your senses follow the pull of the world, and thoughts rise and fall like waves—until you find yourself caught, without even knowing why. That’s why we feel joy, anger, sadness, and happiness—and go through the changes of meeting and parting, gaining and losing, again and again.
There’s nothing in this world that can truly trap you—except the trap you set for yourself.  If you wish to live a good and meaningful life, learn to see the world with gentle awareness and an open heart.  If you’re not troubled by the world around you, and your heart stays steady and clear, then to rest in a peaceful mind—isn’t that a deep kind of freedom?
